So if you haven’t already taken note of my friend Jacquelyn’s blog (I’ve mentioned her a few times here already) “The Gourmet Housewife” you should really give it some attention. She also has a Facebook page you could give a little Like to.
It’s really nice (and also convenient) having a fellow food friend who is up for a challenge in the kitchen.
This past Sunday we got together and had a casual night of appetizers at their place. We apparently think a lot alike since she just posted about our appy night over on her blog too.
It gave me a chance to experiment with some of my wacky ideas for fusion foods and appetizers that have been floating around in my head.
I made a stand-by recipe (Crunchy Five-Spice Tofu) and tried my hand at creating what I called “Cheater” Samosa Rolls and Avocado Spring Rolls. At the last minute I decided to try my hand at making some Dolmathes too. I’ll be posting a series of these new appetizer recipes during this coming week so stay tuned.
Jacquelyn made Roasted Chickpeas, two different kinds of Kale Chips, salad rolls, and Artichoke Salsa. I’d never heard of Artichoke Salsa before and I am a huge fan of it now. I’ll be making it for the rest of summer for sure.
As usual, she was also so great about accommodating Levi’s special dietary needs. Not only is she a gourmand, she’s considerate too.
The only regret I have about that night? I suck at taking pictures and completely dropped the ball on taking photos of the majority of my goodies.
